Zurich was the first Swiss city to have a twinning agreement with a Chinese counterpart. In 1982 Zurich and Kunming started a friendship that now lasts over 34 years. Since then, over 40 Swiss and Chinese cities, cantons and regions followed. While these relations are not centrally registered, there is a lot of data available either online, in press releases or with the state authorities.
Zurich Chinatown started to collect the data in order to give you an overview over the flourishing relations between Switzerland and China. Some of them are actual twinning agreement, some are on the stage of a general Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or just a more or less informal expression of friendship. We plan to keep this overview updated and are very thankful for the support we got beforehand from the authorities.
Please feel free to use the provided chart with reference to Zurich Chinatown.
Is there a twinning agreement missing? Do you have further input to the overview? Zurich Chinatown looks forward to receive your remarks. Please comment or write directly to firstname.lastname@example.org
