Ein Leben in China – Book by Li Kunwu

«A Life in China» is a three-volume history of China, from the seizure of power by Mao to the present day, narrated from the point of view of ordinary people.

My father’s time depicts the life of young Xiao Li from his childhood in the 1950s until Mao’s death on 9 September 1976, while illustrator Li Kunwu remains very close to his own biography and describes vividly and passionately the effects of government campaigns such as “Great Leap Forward” and “Cultural Revolution” on the everyday life of a normal Chinese family.
