Chinese Rock on Mount Rigi

In summer 2015, a rock from Emei Shan (峨眉山) has been placed on the top of the Swiss mount Rigi. The basalt stone measures 2.5 by 1.5 meters, weighs 8 tons and stands for the cooperation between the mount Rigi region and China.

One year before, a stone from mount Rigi was shipped to China to be placed on Emei Shan. The silhouettes of the two mountains are similar, making mount Rigi a popular destination for Chinese tourists. In 2009, mount Rigi and Emei Shan officially became “sister mountains”.
